Kenny Ray may know his way around a pair of scissors, but now he’s trading his clippers for dancing shoes — and he’s coming in fresh, sharp, and ready to shine.

Originally from Virginia, Kenny made his way to Johnson City, Tennessee about 20 years ago and never looked back. After testing the waters in a few different industries (apparently the man likes options), he found his calling in the barber chair. He earned his Master Barber License and took his craft seriously enough to travel coast to coast — LA, New York, Miami, and Kansas City — chasing the best training in America. Because why learn locally when you can learn everywhere?

Kenny built his empire one cut at a time. He started JC Male out of the back of a fitness center (multitasking at its finest), then leveled up to a standalone shop downtown Johnson City, and eventually went full VIP with his private studio, StudioK. Now? He’s just purchased a building on Bristol Hwy where he’ll be opening 12 private studio suites for beauty professionals — basically becoming the landlord of fabulous.

When he’s not building his brand or perfecting a fade, Kenny loves working out, hiking, traveling, cooking, and being creative. He’s got a 23-year-old son, Brody, a supportive family rooting him on, and the energy of someone half his age — which, for the record, is 47. Forty-seven years young, as he’ll gladly remind you.
