Brittany Whitson

Brittany Whitson is a native of the Tri-Cities area, originally from Elizabethton. A graduate of East Tennessee State University, she has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, as well as a Master of Business Administration.  Throughout college she competed in the Miss America Organization and held the titles of Miss Knoxville 2012 and was the only two-time winner of Miss Watauga Valley in 2010 and 2013. She used her platform “Stand Up: Empowering Students to Overcome Bullying” to speak to over 10,000 students in the region as well as the Tennessee House of Representatives, where she received House Joint resolution 1046 as an honor for her efforts in combating bullying. She was a Duke of Edinburgh Bronze medalist and attended an honors ceremony and Royal ball hosted by the Tennessee governor and HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. She also received the Miss America State Community Service award in 2010, the KVAT Food Stores Claude P. Varney Humanitarian award in 2012, and raised over $6,000 for Children’s Miracle Network. Brittany has worked in data analytics for the past six years, and now works as an Associate Client Manager for NielsenIQ, which is the world’s leading consumer intelligence company based in Chicago, IL.

Brittany lives in Jonesborough with her husband, Jarrett, and their two dogs, Toby and Penelope. Her second home is the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre, which has cultivated her love of performing throughout the past 7 years. Stage credits include Lilli Vanessi/Kate in Kiss me Kate, Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes, Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Ella in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Linda Mason in Holiday Inn, and Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun. She was also recently cast as Reno Sweeney in JRT’s upcoming spring production, Anything Goes.

Brittany also started Enchanted Experiences by JRT in 2020, which has now grown into a successful small business that offers character entertainment for birthday parties, corporate events, fundraisers, and more. Through her business, she uses the characters she portrays to instill positive values in the lives of the children she interacts with. Brittany has extensive training in vocal performance, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical dance, but is excited about the opportunity to learn more about ballroom technique and to raise money and awareness for Jeremiah School!
