Dr. Greg Russell

Greg is the founder of East Tennessee Eye Care in Kingsport. Originally from Rogersville, Dr. Russell attended Walters State Community College and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville before being accepted to Southern College of Optometry in Memphis and receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree when he was only 24-years-old. After graduation, Dr. Russell worked with local optometrists and ophthalmologists before opening his private solo practice in 2004.

Greg has been active in organized optometry since 2002 when he was elected to the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians Board of Trustees.  After holding various offices within the organization, he was installed as President in 2006. After his term as president, he continued to serve the profession as AOA-PAC representative for Tennessee educating and working with the United States Congress to ensure patient access to quality eye care across the nation.

Dr. Russell previously served on the board of the Dobyns-Bennett Quarterback Club and has participated in Ballad Health’s Wine Women and Shoes annual event to raise awareness of breast cancer as a “Shoe Guy” for the past four years.

Greg married his wife Dawn in 2015. Together they have three children Gavin, Spencer, and Elizabeth. Together they enjoy traveling with a goal of visiting all 50 states. When not traveling or working, he enjoys spending time at the Kingsport YMCA.

He is nervous, but excited, to be getting outside his comfort zone to help raise awareness of Dancing for Change and the Jeremiah School by performing in the 11th Annual Dancing with the Tri-Cities Stars.
